A Frankland River Summer: An invitation to stay, taste and slow down
Posted on January 19 2026,
Summer in Frankland River doesn’t shout. It doesn’t rush. And it certainly doesn’t compete.
It unfolds.
Here, the days stretch long and unhurried, warmed by inland sun and cooled by evening breezes that drift through the vines. The landscape is generous but restrained - ancient soils, rolling hills, and a quiet confidence that comes from knowing exactly who you are.
This is a summer best experienced slowly.
A place where time loosens its grip
Frankland River sits inland from the Southern Ocean, protected and purposeful. The climate allows grapes to ripen with balance, not urgency. Acidity holds. Flavours deepen. Nothing is forced.
At Alkoomi Wines, this rhythm shapes everything - from the way the vines are tended to the way guests are welcomed. There’s no checklist to complete here. No pressure to move on to the next thing.
You’re invited to stay a while.
Stay at Alkoomi: an off-grid kind of luxury
For those who want to fully lean into the pace of Frankland River, staying on the property completes the experience.
Alkoomi’s chalet accommodation offers an isolated farm escape - minimal phone reception, wide open views, fresh air and space to breathe. It’s the kind of place where mornings begin quietly, and evenings stretch longer than expected.
Perfect for a weekend immersed in nature or a restful stop while travelling through the Great Southern, the chalets are designed for comfort without distraction.
Both the Jarrah and Wandoo Chalets are two-bedroom homes that sleep up to six guests, making them ideal for families, couples travelling together, or small groups looking to slow down together.
-
Wandoo Chalet features a green roof with soft green tones throughout and is located on the roadside.
-
Jarrah Chalet features a red roof with warm red hues inside and sits on the farm side, closer to the vines.
Each chalet includes:
-
One queen bedroom
-
One double bed with single bunk
-
Sofa bed in the open living area
-
Fully equipped kitchen with full-sized fridge-freezer and microwave
-
Laundry, BBQ, linen and towels
-
Wi-Fi, TV and everything needed for an easy, unhurried stay
For groups larger than six, multiple chalets can be booked — allowing everyone their own space while sharing the experience.
Taste the season, not the schedule
Summer at Alkoomi is about tasting with intention.
A chilled glass of Riesling on the deck as the afternoon light shifts. A textured white that carries the story of the soil beneath your feet. A red opened later than planned because conversation took over.
The cellar door experience is an extension of the land itself - relaxed, generous and grounded. Tastings invite you to explore Frankland River through wines that reflect patience and place, rather than performance.
From casual tastings to immersive private experiences, there’s no right way to do it - just your way.
Experiences designed to slow you down
For those who want to go deeper, Alkoomi offers a range of thoughtfully curated wine experiences that encourage you to stay present and explore at your own pace.
